"Duckless" was a Once-in-a-lifetime dog. He
produced Champions and titleholders in obedience,
tracking, hunt tests as well as service dogs for the
blind, bomb and drug dogs, gundogs, and wonderful
family companions. In addition to good looks he
possessed a bomb-proof temperament,great
intelligence cleverly hidden at times behind his
clown-like antics, and an innate desire to please.
He was also a fabulous working gundog.
In short, we consider him our "perfect Labrador."

As intelligent as he was beautiful, he was a
superb hunting retriever, a wonderful friend

Champion Sandylands Crystal
"Crystal"

English Import, OFA Cert., Eye Clear,
(Cliveruth Harvester ex Cliveruth Sandylands Witch)

Many years ago, my friend Marc Hall invited me to
meet his most recent English import, Sandylands
Crystal. Crystal smiled at me and I adored her! At
the age of six, after only having successfully been
bred once, she came to live with us. She produced
several champions for us, and was my beloved and
devoted companion, never leaving my side. She left us
too soon at the age of 13 ½.

Crystal was not only beautiful but a wonderful
character as well.  She could smile like a human and
would do so on command.  She was sweet, very
intelligent, and could be stubborn. I used to call her
my "literary Labrador" because whenever I had to
leave her at home she would get even with me by
finding one (and only one) of my books and chewing it.

She always met me at the door with a smile. I could
never bring myself to discipline her  and I would
never remember to pick up all the books before I left,
so we compromised. I routinely collected  Sears
catalogs, etc., from my friends and neighbors and
would leave one on the coffee table on my way out.
She would destroy it (and only it) during my absence.
Everybody was happy!  Crystal was a treasure!!
Scrimshaw Placido Flamingo
"Tenor"

6/6/92-6/7/04
(Ch. Scrimshaw Duckless Fairbank JH WC ex
Henderland Candach, UK Import)

"Tenor" was OFA Good Hips & Elbows, CERF.  We
loved him dearly.  He was a loving, gentle soul, our
"puppy sitter." Tenor loved puppies and would play
with them by the hour no matter how obnoxious
they became. He was a brilliant retriever, incredibly
intelligent, always a gentleman. We still miss him
and always will!

"Lola."  Do you remember that song ,
"Whatever Lola wants....?" She
named herself and she has never
looked back.  She has survived so
many various crises in her life that
we feel she has used up her Nine
Lives and is now on Number Ten.
We are sad to say that we lost our
beloved Lola, almost 13 yrs. old
She was a wonderful character, truly
unique, who never failed to live up to
the song that named her, “Whatever
Lola Wants, Lola Gets.” We truly
loved her and we miss her.

Scrimshaw Rubber Ducky
Wh. 10/6/95 -10/28/2008
(Ch. Scrimshaw Duckless Fairbank JH WC ex
Am/Can/Bda.Ch .Scrimshaw River Orchid)
Gertie was OFA Excellent, Elbows clear, Optigen
A1 and pointed in very limited showing. She had
her father’s bomb-proof temperament, her
maternal grandfather’s joie de vivre and like
both of them was a wonderful retriever. She was
in charge of all our dogs until her retirement. A
single glance from her was enough to make any
of our dogs, and anybody else’s for that matter,
say “Yes, ma’am. Whatever you say, ma’am.”
She spent her retirement with our Webmaster,
Karen T, and her family. Her duties included
gardening, mattress testing, quality control in
the kitchen, playing with the grandchildren and
visiting us on a weekly basis where she
continued to voice her opinion on the behavior of
the other dogs.

She was truly a wonderful and special girl. Both
her families miss her and will hold her always in
their hearts.
